2009 NFL Mock Draft

1. Detroit- Jason Smith OT Baylor

Although it may seem that the lions are in desperate need for a franchise quarterback the more pressing need is an offensive lineman. For a team that finished just 22nd in the league in rushing yards the problem is not in the air but up front the team needs to recover sooner rather than later.

 2. St Louis Rams- Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest

A very obvious choice for a team in desperate need of some run support the defensive line is shaping up very nicely the obvious choice here is to select a linebacker and Curry is the best on the board.

3. Kansas City Chiefs- Matthew Staford QB Georgia

If the Chiefs are going to be contenders in the AFC West they are going to have to improve the quarterback position Tyler Thigpen simply will not cut it. The wise choice here would be to select strong armed georgia product Matthew Staford.

4. Seattle Seahawks- Micheal Crabtree WR Texas Tech

Many experts have seattle taking an offensive line prospect, although I think they are in desperate need of a playmaker. Crabtree is the perfect fit dubbed the next Randy Moss by some I dont know how many other recievers could have made that catch to knock off Texas out of title contention.

5. Cleveland Browns- Tyson Jackson DE LSU

The Browns most pressing needs are obviously in the secondary at Corner although Jackson would be the perfect 3-4 end for their system. This would open up the pass rush and take pressure off the corners Jackson has great quickness for a three hundred pounder.

6. Cincinati Bengals- Andre Smith OT Alabama

Smith was a Huge reason Alabama was able to control the line of scrimage last year on their way to a bcs bowl berth. He would be a perfect fit for Cincinatis most glaring need after finishing 30th in sacks allowed their excellent passing game will not succeed without blocking.

7. Oakland Raiders- Brian Orakpo DE Texas

Orakpo was awarded the nations top defensive player winning the nagurski award, and would be the perfect fit for the Oakland Raiders 4-3 scheme and their pass rush woes.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars- Eugene Monroe OT Virginia

After suffering from injuries the Jags o-line needs some defenite bolstering after their strength became their weakness, Eugene Monroe is their best option if still availible. The team needs to improve the run game if they want to get better than last place in a very tough AFC South.

9. Green Bay Packers- BJ Raji DT Boston College

Green Bay is switching to a 3-4 scheme and moving Kampman to outside linebacker, so they are in desperate need of a drain plug tackle to fit the system. Raji is the perfect fit and would be a smarter choice then selecting a pass rush linebacker like Everett Brown or Aaron Maybin.

10. San Fransisco 49ers- Mark Sanchez QB USC

After 1st overall pick Alex Smith was found to be a bust San Fran has been in desperate need of a franchise quarterback and Shaun Hill is not that man.

11. Buffalo Bills- Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State

The Bills need a pass rush end but one very well could be found in the second round Pettigrew would be a perfect compliment to their offense. A great run Blocker to help out Lynch and also a good pass catcher as well to take pressure of Evans and TO.

12. Denver Broncos- Everett Brown OLB Florida State

With the hiring of Mike Nolan the Broncos plan to move into a 3-4 scheme and would very well benefit from the services of pass rush specialist Brown.

13. Washington Redskins- Brian Cushing OLB USC

Cushing would be an ideal fit for Washingtons glaring need for an outside linebacker and he could step into that role right away.

14. New Orleans Saints- Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State

After once again finishing in the bottom three in pass defense the Saints have to desperately fill the void in there secondary. Jenkins could be the answer here he is very smart and experienced and does not shy away from contact as most corners do he could even fill a free saftey role.

15. Houstan Texans- Chris (Beanie) Wells RB Ohio State

Wells is a premier talent and would be a steal this far into the draft. His power would also be a terrific compliment to Slatons speed bolstering Houstons ground attack for years to come.

16. San Diego Chargers- Rey Maualuga ILB USC

The Chargers have a number of options on the board but the smartest move for them here would be to take Maualuga. A saftey or even Maclin would be a solid pick although Maualuga is most likley the best availible player.
